Welcome to Gayfield – Willie Ogilvie
Arbroath FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Willie Ogilvie as the Club’s safety officer and head of security.
Willie joins us from Cove Rangers FC where he held a similar position for six years and brings a wealth of experience in all matters of safety and security compliance, particularly within Scottish football.
A retired police officer, Willie was stationed in Arbroath before transferring to Grampian where he spent the majority of his active service. Willie will take up his new position with immediate effect and will mainly focus on the matchday security/safety operations at Gayfield as well as overseeing the care of our supporters, staff, and players visiting the away stadiums also.
Willie spoke of his appointment “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Arbroath Football Club, having met the board, staff, and players many times whilst assisting Ewen West and Dr Gary Callon. I have witnessed first hand the rapid rise of the Club and the ongoing significant upgrades to Gayfield.
I am really looking forward to engaging and working with our passionate supporters who have always been brilliant to deal with. I would also like to thank Cove Rangers’ Board, staff, players, and fans for all their support during my wonderful time at Balmoral Stadium and I wish them all the very best for the new season and beyond.”
Ewen West and Dr Gary Callon will still be in place to support Willie in his position as Safety Officer whilst at the same time focusing on their other roles of Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively.
Willie comes from a family steeped in footballing experience, with his late father playing and managing Montrose FC, his wife Zoe being a member of Aberdeen FC’s Board of Directors and daughter Francesca representing The Dons woman’s team as vice-captain.
Welcome Willie!
