Welcome Jay Bird
We are excited and thrilled to announce the signing of 22-year-old striker Jay Bird on a one-year contract subject to international clearance.
The Arbroath supporters who watched the team play in the recent friendly down at Forthbank got to witness Jay in action as he came on as a second half substitute.
Jay made a huge impression on the pitch with his control, strength, pace, link-up play and the desire to take on defenders and was rewarded with the winning goal which he rocketed into the net after being set up by Ryan Dow.
Born in Milton Keynes, Jay began his football career with MK Dons at just 8-years-old and having developed and progressed through the various youth levels he was rewarded with his first professional contract in June 2019.
At 18, Jay was sent out on loan for the 2019/2020 to gain experience with Southern Premier Central club Hitchin Town, but after just two games Jay suffered a severe injury and missed the rest of the Covid hit season.
After making a full recovery, Jay made his full professional first team debut for MK Dons in October 2020 and scored twice on his debut in the EFL Trophy Group Stage away to Stevenage in a 3-2 win.
Still at only 19, Jay was part of then Manager’s Russell Martin’s matchday squads, but first team opportunities were limited and the young striker joined National League club Wealdstone on loan.
At the end of the 2020/2021 season Jay was released by MK Dons having made 6 first team appearances and scoring 3 goals.
Jay made the move to National League side Dagenham & Redbridge F.C. last season scoring the winner on his debut.
Jay will wear the number 27 shirt for the Lichties and is traveling down with the team to Falkirk today!
A very warm welcome to the Club!
C’mon the Lichties
