Arbroath Football Club is delighted to announce Greenversity Renewables have secured the official naming rights to Gayfield Park for initially the next two seasons at least, with the deal representing the largest ever sponsorship agreement in our history and will help to drive further investment into the ambitious plans for both on and off the field. From next season and the following at least, our home shall be renamed THE GREENVERSITY STADIUM AT GAYFIELD, which not only allows the Club to partner with a highly progressive company and receive a significant investment injection, but also keeps the traditional name of Gayfield within the title which is key.
In the modern day, stadium naming rights are a major marketing opportunity across the sporting sector, and commonly utilised as a significant platform for companies to align with Clubs who match their own values and visions. We believe we have found the ideal partner in Greenversity who not only share our core beliefs but are a leading figure in sustainability as well as reducing our carbon footprint. Along with the exciting news of Greenversity’s major sponsorship agreement, they will now also immediately begin working with the Club to make the stadium fully solar powered and more energy efficient for generations to come.
CEO Paul Reid spoke of this announcement “I am absolutely thrilled to be able to announce this groundbreaking deal for Arbroath, pursuing a naming rights partner has been looked into extensively for a number of months and was something we not only wanted to get right but remain extremely respectful to our history, supporters and our home also. In this day and age, it would be negligent for any sporting organisation not to look at new income avenues with so many costs associated to running a successful Club, we wanted to get this right and I believe we have done so to attract such a new and progressive company which aligns perfectly with our future plans both on and off the field. I would like to not only welcome, but thank all at Greenversity for believing in our vision and supporting us in this new chapter for the Club, I also want to re-assure our supporters, that whilst we have opted for a naming partner, both ourselves and Greenversity have been very clear and respectful to what “Gayfield” means to so many and why it is key that it remains within the title of the stadium. I am really looking forward to working with them on a number of projects that will support the Club both financially and sustainably, and I am sure our fan and corporate base will be able to take advantage of getting to see first hand their products and services which can benefit them also”.
Greenversity Managing Director Kevin McAlear said “Greenversity Renewables are delighted to be partnered up with Arbroath FC as the official stadium sponsors for the next 2 seasons at least. Arbroath is a brilliant club with the community at heart and the values of the club match our own. Gayfield Park is synonymous with Scottish Football and is such a unique stadium so close to the North Sea, it is a spiritual home for so many and we are so proud to have our association in the town that means so much to many people. This is a hugely significant agreement between Greenversity and Arbroath FC as It is extremely important for football clubs in this day and age get to try and reach a Net Zero point and the Club will be at the forefront of this with the plans for the stadium going forward.
All at Greenversity wish the club, the staff, sponsors and especially the fans all the very best for the season ahead which we are delighted to be part off and look forward to the challenge of promotion back to the championship.
