Dale Hilson

Arbroath FC can confirm that striker Dale Hilson is set to leave Gayfield.

Dale who has been with the Lichties since January 2020 was offered a new contract by the Club but has decided to move on for a new challenge and to secure regular game time.

Hilly signed for the Club in the 2019/2020 winter transfer window in our debut season in the Championship from Forfar Athletic but nobody could have predicted that the season would be cut short to the global pandemic.

Dale scored against Queen of the South as he made 6 consecutive appearances after signing before the season was finished early.

With his incredible work-rate, tenacity, fight and speedy Dale has always given his all for the Club and made 32 appearances in shortened season behind closed doors in 2020-2021 scoring 4 goals, including a stunning goal against Ross County with his others against Dunfermline Athletic, a winner against Raith Rovers and against Ayr United as he helped the Club again in the Championship

Into the 2021-2022 season and Dale made another 30 appearances with goals coming against East Fife and Raith Rovers.

This season, Dale often led the line alone showing his determination countless times and giving every defender a rough ride no matter how big a height difference.

A crucial opening goal away to Greenock Morton was followed up with the winner a week later against East Fife before a stunning goal against Dundee which seen it nominated for goal of the season.

The winning goal away to Queen’s Park on what was his 100th appearance for Arbroath, with another huge goal against Ayr United just a week later.

Dale’s contribution to the team went beyond his goals and it was the harassing and chasing that often doesn’t get enough credit in the media, but our supporters were always extremely grateful for.

With 106 appearances and 12 goals for the Lichties and playing in all 4 of Scottish Championship seasons we would like to thank Dale for his time with Arbroath FC.

Thank you, Hilly and good luck!

C’mon the Lichties
