It was a fantastic night for the Lichties as they came back from a goal down to score 4 and move back up into 3rd in SPFL Ladbrokes League One.
Arbroath fell behind early on after a stunning strike from Cameron MacPherson rocketed into the top corner from 25 yards out in the 9th minute but Arbroath slowly found their flow on a very heavy surface and almost drew level when a Robertson pass back was short to keeper Max Currie and Michael McKenna almost took advantage.
In the 39th minute Ryan Wallace drew Arbroath leve from the penalty spot after McKenna was taken out by substitute Neill
A lovely piece of control by Thomas O’Brien gave him some space and he found Bobby Linn with a great pass before Bobby found Michael McKenna at the back post with this pinpoint cross for Michael to score his first Arbroath goal.
Ryan Wallace scored his second penalty of the evening after Jamie Hamill pulled down Danny Denholm in the box. Ryan stepped up and again scored from 12 yards to make it 3-1 to the Lichties!
Substitute Leighton McIntosh made a surging run forward before finding David Gold with a brilliant cut back pass. David’s shot was parried by Stranraer keeper Max Currie but only into the path of Danny Denholm was on hand to score his 9th goal of the season and to make it 4-1
Arbroath Assistant Manager Ian Campbell shared his thoughts after last night’s victory at Stair Park.
