Stirling Albion produced a dramatic comeback at Forthbank yesterday with 2 very late goals against 10 man Arbroath.
The Lichties had opened the scoring after 40 minutes when former Bino Steven Doris combined with Omar Kader at the edge of the box before Doris connected with Kader’s cross to give Arbroath the lead. However Arbroath’s fortunes changed early in the second half when defender Ricky Little was shown his second yellow card before Referee David Munro flashed his red card to Little.
It looked like Arbroath were up against it, but actually doubled their lead in the 68th minute after great work by Ryan McCord who found Omar Kader in space, but Kader still had lots of work to do as he came in from the wing taking on 3 defenders before beatingChris Smith at his near post.
Stirling Albion did start to apply the pressure on the Arbroath goal but keeper Ricky Gomes was in stunning form with a number of fine saves. The persistence shown by the home side finally did pay off when Sean Dickson scored into the corner of the net from 18 yards in the 91st minute.
It looked like Arbroath were going to hold onto for the win but in the 92nd minute Sean Dickson smashed home a long range volley after the ball dropped to him at the edge of the box from a throw in. The shot was unstoppable and left Gomes with no chance, with Dickson securing a dramatic point for his side.
Arbroath remain in 3rd place in the league and will travel to Broadwood next Saturday for the 3rd round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
