Question and Answer with Ricky Little
Q1 from Brian S
Q1 – What is your proudest moment as a footballer?
A1- Winning the league 2 title. Being so far behind in January and clawing it back to win it on the last day was special.
Q2 from Robert Bridges
Q2 – Do you have any regrets in your football career?
A2 – None. One of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make in football was to leave Queens Park but after the success we’ve had in my time at Arbroath I would say it was the correct one.
Q3 from 12 year old Tanner
Q3 – If you didn’t play football what sport would it be?
A3 – Believe it or not I was actually no bad at the auld karate before the football got serious. Good chance I’d have been top man in the UFC just now if I hadn’t hung the gloves up.
Q4 from 11 year old Blair Cargill
Q4 – Who is the funniest player in the Arbroath dressing room?
A4 – Jason Thomson’s great entertainment after a few beers. Jimmy Scott and Paul McManus before that were something else. Few sandwiches short of a picnic those boys but they made the dressing room.
Q5 from Martin Scott
Q5 – Whats the story with throwing a water bottle and jumping as you run on the pitch. Superstitious?
A5 – Aye. Few wee things before a game I don’t like to change, main one being my rice crispy square. If I don’t get that before a game, we’ll do well not to lose.
Q6 from Paul Gray
Q6 – What advice would you give to young players who want to make it to the top?
A6 – Work hard. Seen a lot of technically gifted footballers not achieve what they were capable of because they weren’t willing to work hard.
Q7 – from Kai Teviotdale
Q7 – What is your favourite away ground to visit?
A7 – Ibrox. In the lower leagues though it’s got to be Somerset Park. Not only because it’s 20 minutes up the road but it’s got an old fashioned, sort of traditional feel about it and there always seems to be a decent wee atmosphere.
Q8 from Stone Cold Steven Austin
Q8 – If you were a wrestler, what would be your wrestling name and what song would play as you walked out to the ring?
A8 – The Rick. Entrance music, If You Smell What the Rick is Cooking.
Q9 – from George Hinshelwood, Robert Fairweather, Sye Webster, Fraser Ballantyne
Q9 – It is well know you live in Ayrshire. Many fans respect the hours you spend traveling for training and for match days. Does the traveling get to you and what has made you so committed to playing for Arbroath?
A9 – The success the club has had has made it easy to stay committed. The travelling can be tough at times but I would rather put in the miles I have and have something to show at the end of my career than be someone who’s happy just bouncing between clubs close to home.
Q10 from Andy Thain
Q10 – What has been the most memorable game you have played in for Arbroath?
A10 – Helicopter Saturday. To win it on the last day in front of such a big crowd with the sun beaming down was something that will stick with me forever.
Q11 – from Lauren Order (fantastic fake name!)
Q11 – If you could bring back any former Arbroath team mates to the current side, who would it be?
A11- Would take plenty ex team mates back, been some cracking footballers and some even better drinkers during my time. If I had to pick one though it would have to be big Beaker (Kevin Nicoll). Great guy, always gave 100% on and off the pitch.
Q12 from Ranny Lenhom aka Danny Denholm
We were going for 11 questions, but had 3 funny ones!
Q12 – What was the boys name who beat you 5-1 in the karate final championships?
A12 – Gerry Fox 😂
Q13 from Eddie Ferns (we think)
Q13 – Is it true that you were under 14 world champion at karate?
A13 – Not quite world champion but I was no bad.
Q14 – From an imposter posing as Michael McKenna (Edit – Definitely not from Michael McKenna!)
Q14 – What’s the best thing about Mikey McKenna?
A14 – His barnet
