Ricky (24) was a pivotal part of the team that won the Ladbrokes League 2 Championship after arriving at Gayfield in July 2016.
Ricky made his Arbroath debut in the second half against Raith Rovers in a pre-season friendly at Gayfield before making his full debut against Inverness Caledonian Thistle U20s in the 3-0 win in the Highlands but unfortunately was injured late in the game.
It wasn’t until the 8th league of the season that Ricky was again involved. An injury to Robbie Mutch allowed Ricky to grab his chance and in the following game which was his first full appearance he won the man of the match award as Arbroath defeated Forfar Athletic 2-0.
Ricky’s performances between the sticks made sure that he was 1st choice keeper in our League 2 Championship winning season and went on to remain in goal for the remainder of the season keeping 9 clean sheets in the process and being undefeated away from home in goal all season.
Ricky’s 2017 / 2018 season was dealt a huge blow against Alloa Athletic in the very first competitive game of the season. Ricky suffered a nasty knock to the head which broke his teeth clean off.
Despite this injury Ricky went on to save two penalties in the extra point shoot out to earn us an extra point.
Ricky was all set to play in our 3rd Betfred Cup Match against Hibernian but fell ill with concussion just before kick off.
Ricky then spent some time recovering and getting treatment.
Ricky’s luck seem to be against him this season as he finally won his place back in goal only to suffer a leg injury in this 4th game back against Stranraer.
It’s been a pleasure having Ricky at Gayfield and we would like to thank him for his time at Gayfield and wish him all the very best for the future.
