Queen of the South 0 – 0 Arbroath
A stunning save by Derek Gaston who tipped Shea Gordon’s curling shot onto the bar before a Colin Hamilton block followed up with a last minute header off the line from Ricky Little saved a point for the Lichties this afternoon.
Without Jack Hamilton, Chris Hamilton, Nicky Low and Gavin Swankie the Lichties weren’t quite their sharp self this afternoon as they struggled to really get going.
A sloppy first half with just a Craig Wighton shot on target to show for it, Arbroath were probably happy to go in all level as Queen of the South had the better chances including another moment where everyone stopped waiting for the whistle which never came allowing Queen’s to break and they should have opened the scoring but thankfully Michael McKenna got back in time and hit the ball out for a corner kick.
The opening minute of the second half seen both keepers rush out to grab the ball. Queen of the South buoyed by the appointment of Wullie Gibson as caretaker manager seen the home side create the best chances but thankfully Derek Gaston was in top form.
The introduction of the Arbroath substitutes, Linn, Hilson and Ford seem to create more chances with Dale Hilson coming close before a ball just wouldn’t fall to Scott Stewart.
In the 79th minute Derek Gaston tipped a curling shot from Shea Gordon onto his crossbar as it looked certain for the top corner then in injury time a block by Colin Hamilton followed up by a clearance off the line from the head of Ricky Little earned the Lichties a point.
This could yet be a pivotal point come the end of the season.
It is hoped the missing players will be fit for next Saturday when we go again.
C’mon the Lichties
