Neil Douglas – https://www.gofundme.com/neil-douglas
As many of you are aware our beloved friend and videographer Neil Douglas took unwell last Saturday during the half time interval.
Neil was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with his father-in-law, where it became apparent that Neil had actually suffered a hemorrhagic stroke.
We were stunned, shocked and left with that overwhelming sense of disbelief with the news.
We still are. It’s very hard to comprehend.
Our thoughts turned to Neil’s family, including wife Natasha and other close family members as they were informed of Neil’s Condition.
Out of respect to Neil, Natasha and his family we haven’t share any updates until now, and do so with their full blessing.
Neil has been a key member of Arbroath FC for a good few years now. His match highlights and post match interviews always delivered with the enthusiasm and passion Neil has for Arbroath FC, football and videography.
Traveling all over Scotland, standing in the wind, rain and occasional sunshine then spending hours editing videos, uploading videos – it is all time and dedication that Neil has given Arbroath FC and the other football clubs he has helped.
His videos watched by thousands at home and those abroad who can’t attend matches at Gayfield.
Everyone looks forward to seeing the highlights to watch that Bobby Linn goal over and over again or disagree with the opposition manager’s comments in a post-match interview.
Not to mention that day in Stirling that Neil captured so we can all remember it for years to come.
Our football club is nothing without it’s volunteers who have that raw passion and love and we have really been hit hard by what has happened to Neil, and he and his family have been in our thoughts all week.
Neil’s Brother-in-law, Simon Thornbury has set up a Go fund me page with Natasha sharing updates of Neil’s progress.
Neil has a long road of recovery ahead, but we know that Neil will get through it.
