Luke Donnelly
Arbroath FC can confirm that our striker Luke Donnelly has today left the club.
Arbroath FC would like to thank Luke for his time at Gayfield.
Luke signed for Arbroath in January 2019 from Stranraer and in his first season he helped the club clinch the League One Title.
In our Debut season in the Championship Luke really hit top form scoring winning goals against Dunfermline Athletic, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Alloa Athletic whilst also scoring against Dundee United at Tannadice in that fateful game where Shankland scored twice late on, and then against Partick Thistle where he opened the scoring and also won the penalty in one of his best games for the Club.
Luke’s second season in the Championship was going well before a bad injury sustained at training looked like it could keep him out for a long time with straining knee ligaments, but Luke made it back just before the season ended.
Last season Luke started the season off with 3 goals in our 4 Premier Sports Cup Group, and also with a goal against Forfar Athletic and played a big part in our push for 2nd place in the Championship.
This season Luke has scored against Cowdenbeath, but has been playing in a more midfield role rather than up front.
In total Luke has made 100 appearances for Arbroath and scored 13 competitive goals.
LD has been a big part of our dressing room for over 3 and a half seasons and will be missed by everyone at Gayfield, but we wish him all the very best for the future and Luke will be welcome back at Gayfield anytime.
Good luck LD and thank you!
