During our recent Burns Supper, a presentation was made to our Chairman John Christison for his loyal services to the club and the community.
John has been at the helm of Gayfield for a record breaking 26 years and was presented his award from former Lichtie legend Tom Cargill and Bobby Kane, who is the World President of The Robert Burns Federation.
The award comes 2 years after John was awarded a civic reception from Angus Council to his contribution to Scottish Football. Also during the Burns Supper, Derek Christison was presented with an award for his voluntary services to Arbroath Football Club.
Dave Ramsay, director of Mearns Heritage Services paid tribute to John: “As Bobby Kane’s Immortal Memory speech portrayed the Robert Burns’ values of friendship and loyalty, it seemed an appropriate occasion to present the awards, as recognition of loyal service to the club. From managers, players, support staff and fans, there is a strong track record of loyalty in Arbroath Football Club, and it is right and proper that John’s valuable contribution was recognised.”
The awards were kindly sponsored by the Mearns Heritage Services and Castle Trophies of Stonehaven.
