An imposing attacking midfielder, John McGlashan joined Arbroath initially on loan from Dundee in 1998. After a spell with Ross County, he returned to Gayfield as a player in 2000 before eventually taking over the reigns as Player/Manager in 2005. During his 4 year tenure, he gained promotion in 2007/8 before leaving the Club in 2009. John remained a close friend to many at Gayfield before his untimely death from motor neurone disease aged only 50 in 2018. During a long career, he also played for Millwall, Rotherham, Peterborough and Montrose.
