Jimmy Stormont
The club were saddened to hear of the passing for former player Jimmy Stormont.
We were informed of the news by his nephew, Brian Stormont.
Brian passed on these words about his uncle.
Jimmy played for Arbroath in the mid 50s along with spells at Brechin City and Arbroath Vics. Jimmy played at inside left and according to my Dad Angus, Jimmy’s brother, he was a skillful player with a great left foot.
Jimmy and my Dad were grandsons of David Stormont, the referee of the famous 36-0 game.
Jimmy was living in Newcastle at the time of his death,where he’d stayed for many years.
Our thoughts are with Brian and the rest of the Stormont family.
