The Lichtie’s Betfred Campaign took a knock last night when a very impressive Hibernian side scored 6 goals against Dick Campbell’s men at Easter Road.
Former Lichtie Simon Murray had given Hibs an early lead, but Steven Doris pulled Arbroath back into the game in the 38th minute after a quick corner from Bobby Linn and Ryan McCord, but Ryan Porteous restored the home side’s lead on the stroke of half time.
Arbroath started the second half strongly and Danny Denholm forced Ross Laidlaw into a terrific save, but Hibs scored two goals inside of two minutes through John McGinn and Simon Murray to kill the game. Arbroath looked to be heading to a 4-1 defeat but Ryan Porteous netted his second goal in the 89th minute before Simon Murray completed his hat trick in injury time.
Arbroath host Ross County on Saturday for their final game of Group D.
