Greenock Morton 0 – 0 Arbroath
Arbroath recorded their 13th clean sheet in their 26th Championship match of the season as they drew for the 3rd game in a row.
With Kilmarnock also playing out a draw away to Dunfermline Athletic, the Lichties still stay on top thanks to goal difference and play their game in hand on Tuesday night at Gayfield as Partick Thistle make the journey north.
Jack Hamilton, Chris Hamilton and Liam Henderson came into the side today as Luke Donnelly, James Craigen and David Gold dropped to the bench.
Liam Henderson almost scored after just 20 seconds as he came in at the back post, with the Lichties winning their first corner in the opening 60 seconds.
It was to be a game of few real chances, and Michael McKenna came closest to the opener in the 18th minute when his 20 yard free kick was saved by Jack Hamilton.
Arbroath’s Jack Hamilton had a chance 4 minutes later but his header was over the bar, with his strike partner Craig Wighton unlucky to see his rasping shot just the wrong side of the cross bar in the 35th minute.
Morton’s only real shot on goal in the first half was in the 39th minute when Lewis Strapp unleashed a shot but it was directly at Derek Gaston who made a comfortable save.
Half Time – Greenock Morton 0 – 0 Arbroath
The home side definitely made the brighter start of the second half and Cameron Blues should have caused a huge problem but his header was wide after a cross from Gary Oliver.
David Gold came on for Jason Thomson who seemed to go off with an injury in the 73rd minute.
It was a case of deja-vu in the 78th minute as for the second week in a row the ball was headed off the line, this time it was skipper Thomas O’Brien with the crucial clearance after a free kick from Morton created all sorts of problems as the ball pined back and forth in the Arbroath box.
Bobby Linn, Luke Donnelly and James Craigen came on for Scott Stewart, Craig Wighton and Liam Henderson in the 82nd minute.
Sam Ford replaced Jack Hamilton with 2 minutes to go, but neither side could find a goal as it ended goalless.
It’s another point, and another game undefeated. Every single team has something to play for in this league and with 10 games to go we are still in a superb position.
C’mon the Lichties
