Scottish Cup 3rd Round – Season 2022/2023

Saturday 26th November 2022, Bellslea Park, Fraserburgh, 3.00pm kick off

Arbroath make the trip up the east coast tomorrow to take on Highland League Champions Fraserburgh at Bellslea Park.

The Lichties and Fraserburgh have met once before in the Scottish Cup, and that was in season 1999-2000 when the two sides drew 0-0 at Gayfield before the Lichties won 3-1 at Bellslea Park.

Fraserburgh currently sit 4th in the Highland League and have only suffered 2 defeats this season at the hands of Buckie Thistle and Inverurie Locos.

They have scored 48 goals and only conceded 10, with Scott Barbour on 18 goals for the season one of the danger men Arbroath will face. He has scored 219 goals in 310 matches and was named the Highland League Player of the Year last season.

Paul Campbell has 7 goals in 14 games with Sean Butcher 6 goals in 13 games, so the Arbroath defence will have to be on their toes with Stranraer being knocked out in the 2nd round of the Scottish Cup at Bellslea Park earlier in the season.

Arbroath will be hoping that their injury crisis improves with Thomas O’Brien, David Gold and Dale Hilson all having to leave the field of play due to injury last Saturday against Partick Thistle. Mason Hancock will be missing with injury also.

Scott Bitsindou returned from injury as a substitute against Partick Thistle and he may return to the starting XI.

It is sure to be a very tricky game, but we hope with a large support behind the team you can inspire the boys.

C’mon the Lichties.
