Arbroath thumped Angus rivals Forfar Athletic 5-0 today at Station Park which moves them up to joint 2nd in the league.

Not only did the Lichties secure the 3 points but it now means we have went an incredible 18 games undefeated away from home in the league.

In a match that the Lichties dominated it took some great saves from former Lichtie Marc McCallum in the Forfar goal to keep out the Arbroath attack, in particular Danny Denholm who was denied twice by McCallum.

The Lichties were awarded a penalty just before half time when Simon Mensing took out Thomas O’Brien and Ryan McCord stepped up to give take the lead into half time.

Minutes into the second half and a Colin Hamilton header was palmed away from goal by McCallum which allowed Thomas O’Brien to smash a back post volley past McCallum to give the Lichties the lead.

It felt like Christmas at times as the Forfar defence started to make mistake after mistake and Ryan McCord took full advantage to slot the ball past McCallum in the 67th minute.

Only 2 minutes later and the Forfar defence had McCallum to thank as he pulled of a stunning save as Omar Kader was gifted the ball at the back post.

Substitute Kane Jay Hester was only on the pitch less than 60 seconds before he added a 4th, and then Hester was again involved as won a penalty in the 90th minute as he outpaced Mensing who sent him tumbling.

Bobby Linn stepped up and hit a shot down the middle to give the Lichties a fantastic away win which left the large traveling support very happy!
