FC Edinburgh vs Arbroath – Match Preview
Premier Sports Cup – Group E – Matchday 3 – Season 2022/2023
Saturday 16th July 2022, Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh, 3pm kick off
Arbroath travel to the Capital this afternoon as we take on FC Edinburgh in the first match at the redeveloped Meadowbank Stadium.
FC Edinburgh is the new name of Edinburgh City, after they changed their name last month due to a conflict in the ownership of the name.
Arbroath’s last trip to Meadowbank Stadium was back in January 2017 when goals from Eddie Ferns and Omar Kader gave Arbroath all 3 points as Arbroath pushed for the League 2 Title.
Our last game against Edinburgh City was actually at Gayfield in October 2018 when Edinburgh City stunned the Lichties scoring 4 goals to cancel out Michael McKenna’s opener to knock the Lichties out of the Scottish Challenge Cup in the 3rd round.
FC Edinburgh drew 1-1 with Airdrieonians on Tuesday night in their first Premier Cup Group E match and they also secured the bonus point after winning the penalty shoot out.
Former Lichtie Michael Travis plays for FC Edinburgh and the Citizens have signed Liam Fontaine, Kieran MacDonald and Sam Ramsbottom in recent weeks as they look to challenge in League One.
Our travelling support are always amazing and look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Supporter Information
The match is a sell out, so sadly no tickets are on sale.
This is FC Edinburgh’s first home game since Meadowbank Stadium was redeveloped. This picture from Google Maps taken a few months ago shows the new layout.
Edinburgh Leisure won’t officially open until next week, so tomorrow’s game is a test event for FC Edinburgh and unfortunately there will be NO Pay Per View.
There will be one refreshment kiosk and toilets available at the side of the stand.
Edinburgh currently had a lot of roadworks going on, so be mindful of that when traveling.
TASC 1878 aren’t running a supporters bus, and with the Golf on at St Andrews trains are expected to be busy, so plan ahead.
We look forward to seeing you there!
