Arbroath vs Raith Rovers – Match Preview

cinch Scottish Championship – Game 24 – Season 2022/2023

Saturday 4th February 2023, Gayfield Park, Arbroath, 3.00pm kick off

Arbroath welcome Ian Murray’s Raith Rovers to Gayfield today for our 3rd meeting of the season.

Raith Rovers were victorious at Gayfield earlier in the season with a Sam Stanton goal just before half time turning out to be the winner, but last time out the Lichties were unlucky not to win after a stunning second half performance but settled for a point thanks to a Colin Hamilton goal.

Manager Dick Campbell will be hoping for more of the same as his new look side continued their good start to the year with a win at Greenock Morton last weekend.

It was perhaps the character shown by the team which impressed the most after going behind early on, but a great comeback followed with the many of the new January additions starting to really gel and really showing what they bring to the team.

Raith Rovers have added Scott McGill and William Akio from Hearts and Ross County respectively on loan in January but have lost Kyle Connell, Quinn Coulson and John Frederiksen.

Since our meeting at Stark’s Park in December, Raith have recorded 4 draws and a win, so will be in a confident mood coming to Gayfield.

There could be Arbroath debuts for Steven Hetherington and Toyosi Olusanya with new signings Lewis Banks and Paul Komolafe also set to make their debuts.

Arbroath should be at full strengthen apart from Keaghan Jacobs who continues his rehabilitation from surgery.

We hope there will be another big and noisy crowd to cheer on the team.
