Arbroath vs Motherwell – Match Preview
Scottish Cup 4th Round – Season 2022/2023
Saturday 21st January 2023, Gayfield Park, Arbroath, 3.00pm kick off
Arbroath welcome Steven Hammell’s Motherwell to Gayfield Park today for our Scottish Cup 4th round fixture and out first competitive meeting since a Scottish Cup 3rd round fixture in 2000!
That was an iconic fixture as the first game was abandoned due to high winds, before Arbroath forced a replay at Fir Park, with Motherwell coming out on top in the replay.
Motherwell, like Arbroath have been struggling with league performances so this match will be an opportunity for both sides to go for victory.
There will be a familiar face in the Motherwell dugout with former Lichtie Brian Kerr as Motherwell Assistant Manager. Brian joined the Lichties in July 2011, but suffered a bad injury at Station Park which cut short his Arbroath career.
Motherwell’s talented squad has been boosted this week by the loan signing of Ollie Crankshaw from Stockport County and striker Michael Mandron.
Arbroath will be without Steven Hethrington who is cup tied after he played for Falkirk in the last round, but João Baldé is free to play, as is Ryan Dow who was an unused substitute for Peterhead in their 3rd round match. Yasin Ben El-Mhanni and Sean Adarkwa are both free to play with Arbroath expected to just without Keaghan Jacobs.
With a huge crowd expected we look forward to a great match and hope you will all get behind the Lichties and cheer them on!
C’mon the Lichties
