Arbroath vs Hamilton Academical – Match Preview
cinch Scottish Championship – Game 05 – Season 2021/2022
Saturday 11th September 2021, Gayfield Park, Arbroath, 3.00pm kick off
Arbroath welcome Hamilton Academical to Gayfield today for our 5th match of the new cinch Championship season.
This is the first time the sides have met since August 2014 where the Lichties lost out 2-1 at New Douglas Park in the 1st round of the Scottish League Cup. It was a game that both Bobby Linn and Ricky Little played in.
You have to go back to season 2003/2004 when were were last in the same league together.
In the opening games of the season Hamilton Academical have had a change of Coach with Brian Rice stepping down and Stuart Taylor coming in.
With a record of 2 wins (Queen of the South and Hearts B) he will be determined to leave Gayfield with another victory.
There are four very familiar faces in the Accies line up with Miko Virtanen, Ben Stirling, Andy Ryan and Scott Martin all have played for the club on loan.
As for Arbroath, Dick Campbell will be looking to add to his wins against Partick Thistle and Dunfermline Athletic. He faces a healthy headache with players who missed out last week set to return to the squad including Joel Nouble, Bobby Linn and Ricky Little and with other players getting valuable game time there are some big decisions to be made.
It will be another extremely tough match but we hope you can get right behind the team from the very start.
C’mon the Lichties
