Ladbrokes Championship – Game 25 – Season 2020 / 2021

Saturday 17th April 2021, Gayfield Park, Arbroath, 12.00pm kick off

Arbroath return to Gayfield tomorrow for our penultimate home match of this seasons 27 game Championship.

This match is a 12pm kick off due to the Prince Phillip’s Funeral and will be an early start not just for Ayr United but for the vast majority of the Arbroath team who reside in the Central Belt, Ayrshire and Fife.

The visitors are Ayr United who sit just one point above the Lichties. This of course means this is a huge match for both sides as they try and secure their future in the Championship.

This is the first time Arbroath have faced Ayr United this season with David Hopkin in charge with Mark Kerr’s final game in charge coming against in Arbroath in February when a stunning strike from Michael McKenna sealed the 3 points.

Ayr United have lost talented goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo to injury and he has returned to parent club Aston Villa but they have signed Peter Morrison on loan from Motherwell to battle with Peter Urminský who also signed for the club back in February on loan from St Mirren.

Striker Cammy Smith has moved to America, whilst Josh Todd and Jamie Barjonas have joined on loan from Falkirk and Rangers respectively since our last meeting.

Arbroath will be again be without Gavin Swankie and Bobby Linn but it is hoped Luke Donnelly will be in contention very soon.

Arbroath will need to show the same fight and character shown last Saturday against Raith to get something from this very difficult fixture.

It will be another incredibly tough game for the Lichties, but the boys as always will give it their all for you.

C’mon the Lichties!
