Arbroath welcome Ian McCall’s Ayr United to Gayfield tomorrow where two two top scoring sides in League one meet for the second time this season.
Ayr United were tipped to be title contenders during pre-season and have battled back to draw level with Raith Rovers at the top of League One with 23 points, although Rovers do have a game in hand.
Ayr United, Raith Rovers and Airdrieonians are the full time clubs in this league and certainly Raith Rovers and Ayr have been setting the standards.
The Lichties produced one of their best complete displays of football in many years to record a fantastic 2-1 win at Somerset Park in August.
It was the start of a run of 3 defeats for the Honest men as Montrose inflicted defeat against them in the Irn Bru Cup a few days later before Raith Rovers also claimed 3 points, but they have been undefeated since then and we will face another tough match to the form team in all divisions with 13 points out of a possible 15 in their last 5 games.
Experienced Striker Lawrence Shankland was recruited in September and has went on to score 7 goals in 7 games. In addition to Michael Moffat and Craig Moore it is one of the best strike forces in the League netting 31 goals so far.
Arbroath will be looking to repeat their Somerset Park performance and having scored 28 goals in the league we are still making strides in the right direction and challenging at the right end of the table.
The Lichties will be without Steven Doris, Josh Skelly and Ricky Gomes but Scott Martin will come into the squad to face Ayr United.
