Arbroath vs Alloa Athletic – Match Preview
Betfred Cup – Group C – Game 4 – Season 2019 / 2020
Saturday 27th July 2019, Gayfield Park, Arbroath, 3.00pm kick off
Arbroath welcome Peter Grant and his Alloa Athletic side to Gayfield tomorrow for our final Betfred Cup Group C Match.
New Alloa manager Peter Grant was dealt a major blow last Saturday when keeper Neil Parry had to leave the field after being caught whilst Hibernian scored their first goal. Neil required hospital treatment for a broken nose and a facial wound and is unlikely to feature tomorrow.
New signings Kevin O’Hara, Liam Buchanan and Robert Thomson add a goal threat up front for Alloa with winger Andrew Stirling another new summer arrival from Queen of the South.
Arbroath will be hoping that all the players involved on Tuesday night are raring to go again with manager Dick Campbell stating he is looking to rotate his team to give everyone fitness ahead of next Saturday’s league opener. Ricky Little is expected to return in defence with Luke Donnelly also expected to feature.
Group C
Group Leaders Hibernian have 8 points and can seal group victory tonight with a win over Elgin City or a draw with the extra Bonus point penalty shoot win. Elgin City who currently have 5 points could join Hibernian on 8 points if they were to secure victory over Hibernian.
Alloa are currently on 4 points, whilst Arbroath sit on 6 points with realistically a win required to be in with a chance of being one of the 4 best runner up positions.
Stirling Albion have already played all 4 games and sit at the bottom of the group with 1 point.
We hope you will get right behind the team from the start and C’mon the Lichties!
