Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup – Round 4 – Season 2019 / 2020

Saturday 12th October 2019, Gayfield Park, Arbroath, 3.00pm kick off

We take a break from the Championship as we welcome Clyde to Gayfield tomorrow in the 4th round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.

The sides haven’t played each other since we were both in League 2 in the 2016/2017 season when we clinched the League 2 Title.

Clyde were promoted to League One last season after winning the play-offs and had finished 2nd in the league.

There will be a familiar face in the Clyde Management team as former Arbroath Manager Allan Moore is Danny Lennon’s Assistant Manager.

Clyde have so far thumped Motherwell U21 Colts 4-0 in the 2nd round before defeating Championship side Queen of the South 3-2 in the 3rd round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.

Arbroath will have to be wary of striker David Goodwillie who returns to the Clyde team after serving a two match suspension following a red card against Peterhead, with the striker having netted 9 goals in 7 league appearances, including 5 in one game against 10 man Stranraer.

Clyde will however be without midfielder John Rankin and strikers Declan Fitzpatrick and Kristoffer Syvertsen through injury.

Arbroath will be without Miko Virtanen who is away on international duty with the Finland U21 team, but was cup-tied having played for the Aberdeen U21 side in the 1st round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.

Josh Campbell is also cup-tied having played for Hibernian U21 against Elgin City in the 1st round, but Ben Stirling is available for selection having starred in our penalty win over Dundee United in the 3rd Round.

Also missing will be Scott Stewart who recovers from a groin injury and Gavin Swankie who successfully came through a hernia operation yesterday but Arbroath Manager Dick Campbell should have the rest of his squad to chose from.

It will be another tricky game, but we hope you will be cheer the team on.

Format

If the game is level after 90 minutes, the game will go to penalty kicks.

Season Tickets are not valid.

Disabled Access;

Gayfield Park, home of Arbroath FC has two enclosed disabled seating areas on either side of the main stand which are reserved for wheelchair users and their assistants / carers. Each area can accommodate up to 3 wheelchairs and 3 assistants / carers.

These areas also have wall attached seats which fold down in place for any assistant or carer that is present on the day.

Each side is accessible via a smooth flat surface suitable for wheel chairs with a disabled toilet on the opposite side of the stand.

Our match day stewards are always on hand to give assistance either into the ground, or to the accessible areas.

Unfortunately due to Gayfield’s location we don’t own any parking spaces around the ground, but there is plenty of spaces on either side of the ground to park which is all completely free.

If the distance from the main gate to the accessible area is too far, then we are happy to accommodate a vehicle into the ground for a close drop off. In this circumstance we would please ask that you contact the club a day or two before hand and arrive a little earlier than normal.

We offer a concession admission for those with a disability and free admission to any assistant or carer present.

We are a community club and hope to give all visiting and home fans the same experience as they are welcomed into our ground.

Parking;

Unfortunately due to Gayfield’s location we don’t own any parking spaces around the ground, but there is plenty of spaces on either side of the ground to park which is all completely free.

If you are coming from the direction of Dundee, there are many spaces on Queen’s Drive next to Pleasureland, of if you continue past Gayfield there is Inchcape Park which is your first right after Gayfield. It is next to the Sea which offers street and overspill onto the grass.
