Arbroath 3 – 0 Cowdenbeath
Arbroath cruised home to a comfortable 3-0 win at Gayfield this evening to top Group E in the Premier Sports Cup.
Arbroath made 5 changes as in came Cammy Gill, Nicky Low, Dylan Paterson, Dale Hilson and James Craigen with Derek Gaston, David Gold, Keaghan Jacobs, Scott Stewart and Kieran Shanks dropping to the bench.
Luke Donnelly returned to the bench, but Arbroath were without Daniel Fosu.
Dylan Paterson made it two goals in two games when he opened the scoring in the 18th minute. A fantastic ball from skipper Thomas O’Brien found Bobby Linn who ran in on goal but his shot was saved by McCready in the Cowdenbeath goal but Paterson made no mistake as he lashed in the rebound to make it 1-0.
Arbroath were in full control and despite coming close several times, it was just before half time when the second goal came as Colin Hamilton headed a Nicky Low cross over the top of McCready across goal and into the net to make it 2-0.
Scott Stewart and Luke Donnelly came on for Bobby Linn and Michael McKenna at half time and Donnelly added a third on the hour mark after a fantastic run down the wing by David Gold who looked up and found Donnelly who swept the ball into the net from 12 yards out.
Arbroath looked comfortable throughout and played some lovely passing football.
A great result, and with 2 wins, 6 points, 2 clean sheets, and 4 goals scored we now head to Edinburgh on Saturday for our third game.
C’mon the Lichties!
