A late equaliser by Colin Hamilton levelled the tie after Henri Anier had given United the lead with 5 minutes remaining. With the new Betfred Cup format, each side were awarded a point and the match moved straight to a penalty shoot out. All penalties were well taken but Cammy Bell made a great save from Liam Callaghan’s effort and United won the shoot out 5-3 to earn the bonus point. Young Arbroath goalkeeper, Robbie Mutch deservedly earned the Man of the Match award for a composed and confident performance in an entertaining game for both sides. Match report to follow.
