Arbroath 1 – 2 Raith Rovers – Match Summary
Arbroath lost this afternoon as two second half goals by Raith Rovers secured all 3 points to the visitors.
Arbroath made a really positive start, using the strong wind to their advantage with corner kicks from Michael McKenna and Colin Hamilton creating all sorts of problems for the Raith defence.
Arbroath’s goal came in the 20th minute and it was direct from a corner kick as everyone missed Michael McKenna’s corner and Arbroath had first blood.
Raith Rovers did start to find a way back in, but Arbroath did look dangerous every time they ventured forward.
Of course it was then the turn of Raith Rovers to have the power of the wind at their backs and they thought they had an early equaliser but Derek Gaston had been fouled and referee Alan Newlands blew before the ball landed in the net.
Raith did equalise in the 70th minute and it was a well taken volley from Scott Brown, and worse was to come for Arbroath as substitute Conner McBride headed in a Dylan Easton cross.
Arbroath will be disappointed that they just really didn’t threaten MacDonald’s goal in the second half.
