Arbroath 0 – 2 Partick Thistle
Arbroath, for the second time in 5 days lost out to Partick Thistle by two late goals.
Arbroath had battled since the 50th minute when they were reduced to 10 men after Scott Allan was sent off.
A foul happened deep inside the Partick Thistle box but Referee Duncan Williams had let play run on, but before play had stopped, Allan was adjudged to have fouled again and was shown two yellow cards in straight succession in the 50th minute.
Dylan Tait was handed his debut in midfield after Michael McKenna missed out with a slight knee knock.
The first half was a very stuffy affair with either side really struggling to create clear cut chances.
Arbroath had the first half chance in the 7th minute when a Mason Hancock cross was met by Bobby Linn from 12 yards out but his first time shot just curled over the cross bar.
Four minutes later and Partick had their first chance when Steven Lawless had a shot on goal but it was a comfortable save for Derek Gaston.
Arbroath won their first corner in the 14th minute and after it being played short it was played back to Hancock whose cross was met at the back post by Colin Hamilton but it was a tough angle to get real power on it and Mitchell saved.
A free kick for Partick Thistle in the 34th minute on the edge of the box was blocked but Harry Milne picked up but his near post shot was saved by Gaston.
Midfielder Daniel Fosu had to go off with what looked like an ankle injury in the 38th minute as Kieran Shanks came on as a replacement.
The first half drew to an end without either keeper really having been tested.

Just minutes later and Allan was sent off and Arbroath tried to rally.
Deri Corfe replaced Bobby Linn in the 54th minute for Arbroath’s second change. The Arbroath defence were resolute and stood firm after wave after wave of Partick attack.
Marcel Oakley made his debut in the 78th minute as he replaced Dale Hilson who hadn’t stopped running all game.
Dylan Tait and Scott Stewart were both having excellent games and it looked like Arbroath were going to hold on for a valuable point but with just 4 minutes remaining Ross Docherty hit a shot which bounced off the post and back into the box and former Lichtie Anton Dowds made no mistake from close range.
Tait hit a low drive in the 87th minute which zipped past the far post with the ball just out of reach of Corfe.
With the clock running down, highly rated Rangers loanee Cole McKinnon sealed the points with a very well taken goal.

A second red card in two Championship matches in succession was always going to make it a hard fight but the Lichties battled on and fought well but were unable to hold on.
Arbroath Manager Dick Campbell will still be hoping to use the loan market to bring in more new players before the window closes on the 1st of October.
C’mon the Lichties
