The Lichties lost out to a young Dunfermline side at Gayfield on Monday evening despite dominating the match.
Arbroath were without Ryan McCord, Danny Denholm and Mark Whatley with trialists Finn Graham and Gary Fraser again involved as both players were introduced at half time.
Dunfermline Goalkeeper Cammy Gill who joined the Lichties on-loan during our League 2 Championship season made a string of impressive saves for the Pars with Kane Hester looking the most likely to score for the home team.
Gill made a fantastic save from a Jason Thomson header, although the Lichties had been ruled offside.
The game threatened to boil out of control when Dunfermline’s Aidan Connolly seem to lash out at Gavin Swankie, but both players escaped with only a stern talking too.
Dunfermline scored 5 minutes before half time when a slick passing move allowed Luke to find Todd who finished from close range.
Just before the half time whistle Hester ran towards goal in a similar fashion to his goal against Hearts but Gill was able to save and hold onto his shot just as Wallace was ready to pounce.
Hill, Graham, Gold and Fraser were introduced for Jamieson,Little, Linn and Swankie at the break.
Arbroath continued to dominate with Hill a bystander for much of the second half, but despite efforts from Hester, Fraser and Gold there was still no scoring.
Gill produced the save of the match when Hester managed to chase a long kick up field from Hill. Hester managed to get the better of Morrison but was denied by a fantastic save from Gill.
McKenna who didn’t stop running all evening was again denied by Gill as he punched clear.
A great performance from Arbroath, which was high tempo and full of passing but they just couldn’t find a way past Gill.
One more training session on Wednesday before our first competitive game of the season at Tannadice.
