Andy Webster Q and A

Arbroath FC Community Trust and the Young Lichtie Club present – Q+A with Andy Webster
After very successful Question and Answer sessions with David Gold, Charlie Adam, Bobby Linn, Jason Thomson, Alex Robertson and Kelly Clark – Arbroath FC Community Trust are now offering Young Lichties around the Arbroath Area a question and answer session over Zoom with former Arbroath and Scotland Star, Andy Webster
The zoom session for Young Lichties will be next Tuesday 9th March from 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Andy is a real life inspiration for all footballers who come from the Arbroath Area.
Andy started his footballing career with Arbroath Lads Club before signing for Arbroath where he would make his debut for the Lichties at the age of 17. Andy just spent just two seasons at Gayfield before moving to Heart of Midlothian in 2001 for £75,000
In two separate spells, he played a total of 222 Scottish Premier League games for Hearts, amassing 272 appearances across all competitions. His first spell ended in a transfer saga in which he invoked updated FIFA transfer regulations to leave for Wigan Athletic, in a move which became known as the Webster ruling.
Andy left Premier League Wigan Athletic for a loan spell at Rangers which subsequently become a permanent move. During his spell at Rangers Andy unfortunately suffered a few injuries which limited his playing time but a loan move to Dundee United in the 2009/2010 season saw Andy lift the Scottish Cup as United Captain and his performances in that season earned him a SPFA Player’s Player of the Year nomination.
Andy rejoined Heart of Midlothian in February 2011 and helped Hearts life the Scottish Cup, his second time winning the prestigious trophy.
After leaving Hearts for a second time in 2013, he spent two years with Coventry City before joining St Mirren in 2015.
In addition to a tremendous club career, Andy made his debut for Scotland in 2003 and earned 28 caps in a decade-long international career, scoring once.
Andy is still a great friend of the club and has often attended social events held by Arbroath FC.
This is another Q & A we know will be a really good one for all young Lichties!
We are opening the session up to all Young Lichties in the Arbroath area.
