Match Preview

Match Day 16 – Ladbrokes League 1 – Season 2017 / 2018

Saturday 9th December 2017, Cliftonhill Stadium, Coatbridge, 3.00pm kick off.

The Lichties embark on their first of two consecutive away games when they travel to Coatbridge to take on Brian Kerr and Stuart Malcolm’s Albion Rovers tomorrow.

The first meeting between the two sides at Gayfield earlier in the season left the Lichties stunned when the wee Rovers scored two quick fire goals seconds after Steven Doris was stretchered off. The afternoon was to get worse as Albion exploited the Arbroath defence scoring another two goals with substitute Kane Hester clawing back a consolation for Arbroath.

It was the first of three impressive wins in September which Brian Kerr was rewarded with SPFL Ladbrokes League One Manager of the month. However Albion Rovers have struggled to find that form since, suffering two very cruel late defeats at the hands of East Fife and Forfar Athletic.

The SPFL announced Arbroath (34) are the 3rd highest scoring team in the Scottish Leagues with Albion Rovers (31) 5th, so hopefully they haven’t jinxed a 0-0 draw!

Arbroath Manager Dick Campbell will be hoping that Colin Hamilton and Scott Martin have both recovered from injury and that Gavin Swankie and Danny Denholm are getting close to full fitness after their injury comeback. Omar Kader should be back in the squad but again Steven Doris and Josh Skelly remain long term injury absentees.

*I’m afraid that I’m missing my first game in over 21months so there won’t be any photographs or GoPro footage but Neil from 36NilTV will be still be in attendance and match highlights and interviews will be available as per normal. Please remember to subscribe to the 36NilTV YouTube channel*
