Arbroath came from behind with a fantastic second half showing to condemn the Saints to their first defeat of the league campaign.
Josh McPake had the visitors ahead inside five minutes at Gayfield, but a Findlay Marshall double either side of Gavin Reilly’s strike in a manic 12 minute spell earned Arbroath a well deserved 3-1 win.

McPake remains the top goalscorer in the Championship this season, with 13 goals in 19 appearances, including the opener in their defeat to Arbroath earlier in the season.
His form has been consistent across the campaign, earning him a summer move to Premiership side Hearts. Four goals in his last five games have only increased the hype around him and he’ll be looking to continue that form.
Last weekend’s disappointing late draw at home to Airdrieonians was frustrating for the Lichties, but it saw them end the year with an eight game unbeaten streak and they’ll be hoping to kick off 2026 in a similar vein.
Back to back away wins in the league against Ross County and Dunfermline Athletic will also provide confidence that the league leaders can also be beaten.
