Arbroath 2-1 Partick Thistle, Saturday 13th December 2025
On a day where the wind played havoc with both sides, it was Arbroath who dealt with the conditions better to come away with all three points.
Playing with the wind at their backs in the second half, the Lichties took full advantage with Findlay Marshall and Gavin Reilly’s goals putting them in control.
A straight red card for Craig Watson gave Thistle a way back into the game, which they took with Alex Samuel halving the deficit three minutes later, but they couldn’t find a leveller as Arbroath held on.
Tony Watt
While Logan Chalmers has claimed a lot of the plaudits for the Jags this season, Tony Watt has also been a consistent performer in Maryhill.
After leaving Dundee United at the end of last season, Watt made a bright start to his career with Thistle, finding the net three times in his first seven league games.
A last minute winner against Morton last month has been followed with important assists in recent draws with St Johnstone and Dunfermline to keep his side within just three points of the Perth side at the top of the Championship.
After an extended break, Arbroath came back with a bang last Saturday in an entertaining 4-2 win over Dunfermline at Gayfield.
Ryan Dow and Findlay Marshall scored either side of two Pars own goals to tighten the Lichties grip on third place ahead of the trip to take on Partick Thistle.
