A home win against the Methil side saw Arbroath progress to the fourth round of the then named, SPFL Trust Trophy.
Dale Hilson was brought down in the area early on, allowing Michael McKenna to put the Lichties ahead from the spot. Hilson himself then doubled the lead two minutes later, capitalising on a goalkeeping error to find the net.
Jack Healy halved the deficit in stoppage time but it wasn’t enough as Arbroath held on to defeat their League Two opponents.

A familiar face to Arbroath supporters, Michael McKenna spent six years at Gayfield before leaving to join Falkirk.
Now at East Fife, with former Lichties boss Dick Campbell, McKenna has been an integral part of the Fifers’ season that sees them sit in the League One play-off spots.
Having played the fourth most minutes in the squad, he is also joint second top scorer with four goals and has provided eight assists across the campaign so far, including three in his last five games
A drab 0-0 draw against Raith Rovers on Saturday earned Arbroath a decent point, but means it’s now just one win in five games ahead of the trip to Bayview.
With East Fife going strong in League One, the Lichties will be well aware of the strengths they possess, but are unbeaten in the last eight meetings of the sides, a run stretching back until October 2017.
The Scottish Cup hasn’t been a favourite of Arbroath in recent years, having not progressed past the Third Round since 2022/23, but Saturday presents an opportunity the players will be keen to grab.
