It’s hard to look past Josh McPake when it comes to St Johnstone’s attacking record in the league this season.
While both himself and Jamie Gullan have 18 goal contributions apiece, McPake’s 15 strikes make him the Championship’s top scorer, averaging a goal less than every two games having found the net against seven of their nine opponents, including Arbroath.
That form has earned him a move to Premiership side Hearts in the summer and McPake will be keen to continue his impressive form and help his current side join his new employers in the top flight for next season.
A narrow 2-1 defeat to Morton last weekend in which Arbroath did everything but score an equaliser at Cappielow brought to an end a six game unbeaten streak in the league.
With an 11 point between the Lichties in third and a host of teams just outside the top four, Arbroath know that likely just one more win will seal a playoff spot at the end of the season.
Dunfermline in fourth are seven behind, but with two games in hand will still feel confident of catching the Lichties, as both sides aim for home advantage in a possible playoff clash and triple header at the end of the campaign.
