Despite Scott Robinson’s second goal in maroon giving Arbroath an early lead at Lesser Hampden, Queen’s would score twice before the break to take all three points.
Aidan Connolly found the equaliser with a finish from close range before Seb Drozd’s clever dink on the break in the last minute of the first half put the Spiders ahead.
Arbroath pressed for an equaliser but couldn’t find a way through and would ultimately leave empty handed.
Callum Smith
Having only joined Queen’s Park from Raith Rovers in January, Smith has slotted in nicely to the side.
Smith, who also made nine appearances for Arbroath in the 2018/19 season, has a goal and an assist to his name for the Spiders in victories over Morton and Ayr United.
Arbroath are on a five game unbeaten run in the league since that defeat to Queen’s in January, albeit four of those have been draws, three without finding the net.
Last Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Airdrie was an improvement on some previous clashes against the Diamonds from a defensive point of view, but it was one the Lichties will feel they should have won having created the better chances.
